Amelie d'Oslo - Motoring onwards..........

So there is no wind. Well, that's not quite true. There is a little bit of wind but, sadly, it comes from just where we want to go, which is the Azores. When we try to sail we make just three knots or so, and we can choose between heading for Nigeria, or up to Norway. As soon as Per found this out he made it quite clear that we he did NOT want Amelie to go to Nigeria. We then had a bit of trouble with the engine, so spent much of this afternoon quietly sailing towards Norway!

Luckily, Mike The Mechanic ably assisted by Andy and Per managed to get to the bottom of our fuel injector problem, and with remarkably good humour - in fact we didn't even hear any swearing which was quite surprising really - they soon managed to get the motor going again.

When we were filling Amelie with fuel in Bermuda we knew that the winds were likely to be light so we had a short debate, and then bought every single spare fuel can that we could find on the whole of Bermuda, and filled them full of diesel.

As a standby plan, just in case there was lots of wind, Per had a plan which is to open a retail outlet in the middle of the Atlantic to sell off all the extra food and fuel that are weighing down his boat so much! As it happens, we will need every drop of fuel as we are likely to need to motor all the remaining 500 miles to the Azores.

Lots of love from the crew of Amelie
