Ayama - The Force is with us -sometimes-

1.5 knots current and 22 knots wind from the southto is helping us speed along in 8-9 knots towards Horta! We have enjoyed gourmet food on Ayama thanks to Anna since we started.

She will have a bigger challenge for the rest of the trip as both the fridge and the freezer are down due to a cock up.

In short:

The involved components are, a seacock, a bypass valve for the galley sink drain,a gray water tank installed below sea level and and its grey water pump. Add to that two refrigeration compressors with their associated electronics installed in close proximity to the bilge.

When the aforementioned components during a short period weren't operated in absolute harmony several buckets of seawater entered the bilge. Our proud steel-lady, with the help of some gusty southern winds leaned over to port-side, and there you are! Before we could say "man the bilge pumps" the electronics to the two compressors were toasted.

S**t happens and now Thomas in Sweden is trying to source new components to be shipped to Horta as we have our doubts to find spares there.

The crews spirit is still high, and we will do like the Vikings, sail the north Atlantic without fridge and freezer.
The Skipper will hold a seminar for interested parties, title: Reflections on Grey water tanks -their pros and cons
