Golondrina - A fair tale from the sea..

Once upon a time a long way from land, especially anywhere called St Lucia was a little boat called Golondrina who had a happy little crew and a captain called Gareth.  He was a jolly sole having come from a land of dragons and every now and then he would speak to the crew in a funny language that no one really understood but they all nodded and carried on.

The other crew were Spin-lock (he used to be called Mark but he recently found that if you drape wet clothes on a life jacket it fills full of air and everyone laughs), ' Jack the Rat' who is becoming slightly more blood thirsty than a Victorian mass murderer when dispatching fish and lastly 'strangely welsh', a young lad whose head is on upside down .. Either that or it's a thick beard.  Finally 'Eco Dave' our new saviour of the planet.

One evening, as the calendar showed 25 days to Christmas Spin-lock decided to cook a special surprise meal.  Everyone was very excited and as a special treat they were all allowed a small can of special adult drink.  Eco Dave decided not to have a one as he had a special drink which made him very happy. He told everyone he got it from a wizard in Bombay and it was made from Sapphires and it was only him that could drink it.

Spin-locks dinner was very nice and entitled 'stuff with a hint of sausages',  the surprise was trying to find any.   Anyway, that didn't matter because everyone was very happy, especially Eco who was getting happier the more of the magic drink he had.  As the night went on they put decorations and a little Christmas tree up (thanks to Emily and Chloe) and sang lots of Christmas records, especially Captain Gareth who seemed to forget where we were going for a while and was quickly guided back to the large orange orb in the sky that was falling into the sea as our preferred direction.

As the celebrations calmed down Eco Dave mentioned that no one understood him and everyone quickly pretended to yawn and rub their eyes and ran off to their bed.

The next morning the sun came up and it was a lovely day. So much so that they carried on singing songs just like the night before . It was then that Eco Dave came on deck and everyone noticed that he didn't look very well and obviously the magic Happy drink had worn off.

Eco said that there was far too much noise and then said a lie about Father Christmas.  'Strangely' was so upset he ate all of his advent calendar.  Eco made it worse by saying some words that are very naughty and Captain Gareth was so angry he gave Eco two special white tablets and told him to drink lots of water and go to bed which he did.

Later that day Eco woke up and apologised to everyone for his naughty behaviour and offered to buy everyone dinner and as much as they could drink when they reached land.

Told you it was a fair tale    ( clearly a slow news day )

Still heading west as of 1700 Tuesday 3rd 1733 miles to go.
