Morning Haze - Sailor Ted's adventures continue (day 13 and 14)

Hello family and friends,

After our mid-ocean swim and a night sail under a full moon, I can only say that I am privileged to be onboard Morning Haze and share these precious moments with the family crew. Rebecca and Demi both came up on deck during the night to admire the stars and the moon with me. What a journey so far...

This morning (day 13), the wind finally picks up a bit...Yes! the speed sensor still works...it shows speed above 6 kts!!! In the afternoon we discovered that the freezer/fridge had not been working since last night. Panic sets on board!...We don't want to loose all our fish and we still have more than 1000 miles to go! David gets his voltmeter and starts tracking the problem from the electric panel to the compressor...after 15 minutes, he discovers a loose resistor on the compressor. David managed to fix it and the compressor is now working again...OUF! We have now decided to stop fishing as we don't want to overwhelm the freezer unit in this ambient heat. Maybe we will put the rod back in the water closer to St-Lucia...I hope! As usual, the girls did take their water sample in the afternoon.
Yesterday started well but the wind did again in the afternoon and the sails started flapping agains the rig again...David was about ready to implore the gods when Eole finally delivered the much awaited 20 kts needed to sail effectively downwind with Morning Haze. It turned out to be a nice evening/night sail averaging 6,5 kts over ground. After one week all alone without a vessel in sight, we saw two boats on our port side on AIS....Rafiki and Cygnus Pena. We tried to hale the latter on VHF but could not hear Carsten as we were too far away.

We all send our best to our families ashore and we are all looking forward to see you in the Caribbean!

Sailor Ted over and out.
