Orion - Week 2, Tuesday 4th

We have been sailing for one week now and it has been the great washing and bathing day. We learned that being pulled at more than 7 knots after the boat is quite a challenge and only the very strong boys Alex and Rune tried it out. Placing the steel bucket for washing close to the compass turns it 30 degrees and we could have ended in Brazil! Henrik.

Last night I was softly singing under the stars when a flying fish that was so impressed with the quality, threw itself into my chest showing its appreciation and then another one did an hour later, so now all you people I have sailed with in the past that have said to the contrary, Ha Ha!!! I have being trying to use the weather to our advantage to make a fast passage, however it has to be fun and safe so we have slowed a little to let some of the bruises recover. Keith.

I've quite a varied collection of bruises now, the usual shins, knees and forearms but also pressure bruises all over from bracing against the movement of the boat. We haven't seen any other boats now for two days and that makes me realise how remote we are. But down in the tropics it is sunny and warm and that can't be bad. Barbara

Another day goes by and we continue our pursue to St Lucia. Today we celebrated the entry into the second week with shower at the back of the boat, laundry time and a wonderful meal (I hope as I will be cooking). Steering in T-Shirt for hours surfing wave after wave is an experience difficult to describe and when dark quite overwhelming too. I have no idea of our current position, but we are definitely winning. Domingo
