American Spirit II - Day 174; Final Day Before Angela and Chet Arrive; Saturday, June 28, 2014

7:38 AM up. Called Angela. She was already at the Charlotte, NC airport getting ready to board a plane to LA, then to Nadi, Fiji. Found out later her plane left 1 hour late;or was it 2 hours?

Breakfast at 9:00 AM. Scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage and bread.

Left mooring ball and headed out to sea to empty head (bathroom holding tank). Returned an hour later. One of the few inefficiencies of the marina we're in is that they don't have a pump out station to empty your head; and there is no barge coming by to pump out your holding tank, either; like there is in Key West for boats on mooring balls or anchored off shore.

The day was primarily spent getting the boat ready for Angela (daughter) and her husband, Chet. Joel was moving out of the V-Berth to a main cabin quarter berth, so a lot of his belongings had to be relocated; as well as a new set of sheets and pillow cases needed to be put on the bed. I left to do 3 loads of laundry, which took about 3 hours due to the laundry room being crowded and one of the dryers being temporarily out of order.

At 3:30 PM we started re-rigging our fishing lines. We unspooled all of the 40 pound line and replaced it with 100 pound line; put on new leader wire; and new lures. We also have developed a method of using our 2 hand lines, using a 'trip line' attached to a coke can to tell us when we had a hit on one of the 2 hand lines. The hand lines are not on spools that make a noise when a fish hits them.

Dinner at 5:00 PM on the boat consisted of blackened chicken cooked on the grill; baked potatoes; and bread. The small propane tank we were using ran out of propane, so we had to attached another one to finish cooking the chicken.

I talked to Angie at 6:15 PM after she had boarded her flight from LA to Fiji. They almost missed the plane because once they got to LA they had to exit security and re-enter to board their next flight. That took a lot of time. As it was, one of their 2 checked bags, spare parts bags for the boat, ended up not making the flight and will have to be delivered Monday.

After dinner we showered and then went to the restaurant for internet, coffee and dessert.

Back on the boat at 8:35 PM where we watched the movie Watchmen. A long movie starring no one of high repute.

Lights out at midnight.
