The Austrian and the Irishman have arrived in Gibraltar, bringing ARC crew strength to three-quarters.
We spent our first 24 hours together with final boat prep and provisioning, plus getting reacquainted. The skipper asked each man what he wanted to see happen before his time aboard Windleblo ended. The Irishman said he wanted to build strong friendships. The Austrian seeks achievement of a life long dream -- to cross an ocean.
As for me, my goals, beyond the obvious safe delivery of boat and crew, are to use the passage as a time to practice seamanship and work towards being a better shipmate, husband, and father.
As we say hello to each other, we say goodbye to Mainland Europe. We shove off early tomorrow. Our first stop -- Madeira -- is 600 nautical miles and 100 hours away.
