Land Ho!
The next time we hear this cry, it will be St. Lucia, not Gran Canaria, that we approach.
Our two night crossing from Madeira is nearly done. Force 6 winds on the beam, sometimes touching Force 7, propelled us here. The seas mounted to four meters along the way, making sleep elusive. Windleblo seem to revel in the sporty seas. As I've said many times before, the only thing holding this boat back is captain and crew.
The rough conditions did nothing to dampen the good spirits aboard Windleblo. We even practiced our sea shanties mid-passage.
Moments ago, we held a passage debrief. The only complaint I heard was that we did not do enough to pay homage to Neptune as we departed Madeira. All we did was share a dram of cheap gin while hearing a few words uttered by Joules in German. We will improve on this with a proper ceremony when we leave Las Palmas in two weeks.
Very soon we make landfall and our ARC experience begins.
