Today has been IT and weather day. We have had the computer
expert from Green and Regis on board for most of the day. He has managed to get
both our Wifi systems up and running, the Yacht Sentinel system ( which is an
alarm system), the Navtext computer download system and a query over our depth
sounder. At the same time Discovery yachts have replaced a bilge pump,
installed gauges on the black tanks and resolved a number of other minor
issues.
We have also been looking at weather and Grib file sites
so we can optimise our routing following a useful seminar on the subject. The
ARC weather expert predicts an absence of Hurricanes or tropical storms and
generally pretty benign conditions (based on current information). The
prediction is for fairly light winds at the start.
Tonight several tons of food are arriving with fresh food
arriving on Friday. Iain has masterminded this and I think it is fair to say we
are not going to go short. The menu planning could easily be the basis of a new
cookbook.
We are somewhat ambivalent about the fancy dress party
tonight. We will all look ridiculous dressed as aging pirates (plus Sinbad the
sailor in Jonathan's case), however, after the efforts of the ladies we dare
not miss it.
Crew moral is pretty good and anticipation is building.
