After a few days on the rolling seas,
we have now all got our sea legs - thank God! We awoke to
beautiful sunshine, little wind and flat sea, which was definitely a welcome
relief to some on board. It really is incredible/scary to not see any land
or boats for miles, just us and the sea!
Some scramblies and bacon were the order of the morning
then it was into bikinis and off with the shirts for our first bout of
sunbathing. With the little wind we had, there was an attempt to fly the
gennaker which much to the annoyance of Haig and Sam was not a great success so
the motor went back on. The boys put up the awning, which was a
nice relief from the hot sun - none of us want to be burnt to a crisp on
the first sunny day!
Yoyo made a healthy and delicious lunch, served with
warm boat-baked seeded bread. Yoyo and Victoria, having digested lunch, decided
to carry out a pilates session on the foredeck, shortly joined by Carl. During
this, Nick spotted a large pod of dolphins (which made him take in his fishing
lines promptly - dolphin fishing has been strictly banned by the girls on the
boat!) about 100 metres away - which was exciting and everyone jumped
on deck to get a view. Hopefully this will be one of many dolphin viewings!
After their pilates session, the girls were keen for a
shower so we had our first attempt at hair washing with a combination of salt
water and clean water up on deck. This was quite the spectacle - so much so
the boys felt the need to get the camera out. But we are now feeling
squeeky clean!
