Wildlife watch over. David Attenborough would be proud.
The Hotstuff fairies are happy with their progress to date. Everyone has
now helmed and one watch cycle is complete. Sea sickness has settled now and all
have developed wobbly sea legs. We are continuing to head south west hoping to
be able to turn right by the weekend (if south enough) and head straight for St.
Lucia!
We have now settled into the watch system following a 3 hour on -- 6 hour
off system at night, and a 4 hour on -- 8 hour off system during the day. For
those of you who thought sailing was glamorous here's the lowdown of the night
watch...
Extract from Clairy Fairy's diary:
Get woken up by glowing red head torch light shining in your face and
someone whispering your name.
Stagger out of bed at 45 degree angle and try not to knee/elbow/crawl said
cabin buddy.
As you are already wearing the totally flattering leggings, t-shirt and
panties you put on three days ago you only need to find your damp salopettes and
attempt to put them on.
Finally achieve success.
Then remember you need a wee.
Wee. (brace yourself/tissue in bin/pump toilet X40 times)
Repeat No.s 3 & 4
Put jacket on.
Put lifejacket on.
Put hat on.
Put inappropriate white head torch on - everyone else was prepared with a
red one - what packing list?...
Put socks on.
Put boots on.
Quickly remove boot and pull out fabulous green torch (thank you
sister)
Put boots back on.
Attach crotch strap.
Looking and feeling glamorous climb up companion way stairs.
Attach safety harness to D ring in cockpit.
Fall over safety harness and numerous ropes on floor.
Finally sit down and gaze at the stars.
Further highlights of the day:
Beauty school opened. Clients mainly required hair oiling and braiding
courtesy of Fairy Tricia - thank you!
Food. We went Mexicano today; Ay Caramba! It was delicioso and cooked by
the squirrel watch Sarah, Charlotte and Jo - gracias.
Business is booming at the on-board greengrocer's. Charlotte sold 8 apples,
5 tangerines and a big tomato today. Our juicy mangoes and big ripe plums are
coming along nicely.
Fitness. The plank challenge has commenced. Fairy Sue started by showing us
her rock hard abs and maintained the plank (1 armed!) for 12 seconds all while
heeled over. Impressive Sue! Apparently she trains her body builder son.
All in all life is great.
With love and fairy dust from the Girls4Sail crew on
Hotstuff.
