(damp) Fairies of the Lost Arc - Chapter 5
Our sailing adventure across the Atlantic now feels like an extreme sport.
Flat calm seas seems like a lifetime ago. It has definitely been a testing
few days but the teamwork of 9 women has no limits; we have gotten each other
through it in one piece.
The challenge really hit home about 3am this morning. The sea decided to
put Nikki, Sue and Claire's top of the range wet weather gear, boots and (quick
drying) thermals to the test. It succeeded in finding its way right through into
Sue's undergarments. Following all glamorous watches such as these, the crew
proceed down to the exclusive sauna - £5 a day is not a bad rate - which is
rammed full however, not appreciated by the residents.
Cooking dinner has proved to be an experience too ... We thought we would
give you all a taster:
#1. Select the most rotting veg and fruit from swinging nets
#2. Accidentally drop said rotting veg on head of forepeak resident who is
now sleeping underneath nets to avoid Chinese water torture drip from forepeak
hatch.
#3. Open festering fridge - fling rotten chicken overboard
#4. Gag.
#5. Gag again.
#6. Gather oneself and find delicious yet nutritious packet of sausages
(slightly green and sitting in a pool of sour milk).
#7. Spend 45 mins chopping the one tomato, one onion and seven cloves of
garlic.
#8. Investigate spice cupboard and choose flavour "du jour" - will it be
tomato ketchup again?
#9. Pause to wipe very sweaty betty forehead.
#10. Wake up residents of the port aft cabin to turn gas on - who designed
this boat again?
#11. Prepare to cook on gas stove with the pressure equivalent to two swan
vestas.
#12. Whilst waiting for said meal binge on chocolate and snacks.
#13. Feeling like it is 4 days later, dinner is ready.
Of course, 9 women are a stylish bunch. To update you all on current
trends... In fashion on-board at the moment is sweat, layers of grime, greasy
hair, last night's dinner smears, furry teeth and water logged zombie prune
hands (inspired a thriller moment yesterday - premier showing in St. Lucia on
arrival). 'Where in the world would we rather be?!' we keep asking ourselves. We
bet you all wish you were here ...
Everything is looking brighter now on the other other side of last nights
squall line. We wished each other happy advent today over dinner in the sunshine
with our own version of the very classic Christmas song with a few twists here
and there. The third day of Christmas missed its three French hens and got three
wenches winching, the 9th got nine bunks a bouncing ... and so on. It provided a
great source of amusement our end. We have also begun our yachts own advent
calendars courtesy of Sarah thank you! Hot stuff's Christmas day is on 6th
December - we hope you can join!
With love and fairy dust from the Girls4Sail crew in Hot stuff.
p.s. Our thoughts go out to the yacht Happy Days who kept us company
through last night's bad weather. We hear there is a missing life raft and we
will be sure to look out for it.
