Free Spirit - Monday 2nd December
Its my Birthday
today! Here I am 69 years
old in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean!
Wow! What a way to
celebrate! {make of that what you
will}
.. Anyway it has been a
lovely day in every way. I started
with a pampering session that is to say I had a shower, shampooed and blow
dried my hair such luxury! Then I
had my first Birthday present
A fish from Alex
..another beautiful mahi
mahi. As if this was not enough he
then donned snorkel, mask and flippers and dived under the boat! Oh what drama! What a palava! Just as the fish had been landed the
engine was put in to gear to start moving forward again when BANG!! Dont like the sound of that, said Peter,
we could be in trouble
{Another
dread realized the line caught round the prop } Now I am thinking
..anyway
..alls well
that ends well. Then out came the
champagne (saved for the occasion on this alcohol free crossing) along with two
more presents - a lovely sailing
top from Richie and a beautiful seahorse necklace from Peter. How lucky am I ?!
Apart from all this the sail repair work continued through the
day. With no wind progress through
the water was slow but the sun shone all day. Peter voted Alex the hero of the
day as he not only dived dep to freethepropellor, he also dug deep to free the
blocked macerator. Despite the no
paper down the loo policy he found a piece of cord and a piece of plastic. How did that get there? We are all pleased to say that normal
service has now resumed. What a
relief!
