Silver Slipper - Good Bye Dad
Well the log read 1576 miles at 13:30 UTC today and at
014 25.8690 N 034 38.1120 W I spread the last of my Dads ashes in the Atlantic.
We always planned to do the Atlantic one day together which never happened, but
at least this time, he made if halfway. We celebrated his life with a nice glass
of bubbly and surrounded by 60/70 dolphins playing on the bow. Then once the
formalities were over and in recognition of a emotional moment in time, I landed
a Blue Fin Tuna, which weighed in at 23LBS on our old gas scales. The biggest
fish I’ve ever landed and a gift from my Dad.
Well we are still plodding on, Wind Gods please help us,
this is really not what 2 years of planning was meant to be like. Where is the
beautiful downwind sailing we all dreamed off?
ETA St Lucia should get us in before the party ends but
if not, please save us some Rum Punch.
Happy sailing to all of you out there.
