Merlyn III - Best To Be Optimistic
Best
to be optimistic
Went
to sleep to the sound of Billie Holiday; woke to the sound of the diesel engine
powering us through another morning of light winds.
Hope
spring eternal and as our wives were preparing to take off from London, we
openly welcomed leaden skies and distant squalls urging them to get behind us.
Our short term wishes were answered with stronger winds and heavy rain coming in
on the beam - we creamed along at 8 knots and crossed our fingers as it was
ahead of the forecast winds; the oft repeated the story of yesterday’s wind forecast moving tantalisingly
ahead of us, when reviewed the following morning!
Yet
we are aboard an extremely comfortable yacht that rides the waves beautifully,
with good food and good company. Truly away from today's, yesterday's and last
week's news, insulated from the internet and endless emails miles, out in the
middle of nowhere, doing our washing – see photo – and enjoying balmy weather in
shirtsleeves or less on the 8th of December and looking forward to a warm
welcome from our wives when we arrive. Not so bad..........
