24 hours later and we confirm that we are slightly losing our minds... The
washing machine sleeping experience has now turned into a tumble drying on extra
hot and extra long cycle setting. Bruise count is now into triple figures -
colours ranging from the palest of buttercup yellow to the deepest of purple. A
navvy would blush at our expletives - every time Tricia swears the whole boat
cheers. She is now down with da kids. Ali G would be proud. She's got the
headlamp, sunnies, medallion and the batty rider shorts. Work that ghetto chic
girlfriend!
The sailing experience has been awesome. Big swells push Hot Stuff's bottom
towards St Lucia - blissful surfing - it feel like we are flying sometime. Life
doesn't get much better than this ... Nikki is currently on the helm eating last
night's cold chilli non carne - and she reckons a cold beer in her hand could
improve the situation.
We are starting to get itchy feet as we count down the miles closer and
closer to our finish line in Rodney Bay and thoughts are starting to go towards
what we are most looking forward to when we get there.
Top of the list at the moment are the following:
#1. Fresh running water - sea water and TCP out of a water bottle to
sterilise hands loses its edge after day 7.
#2. Ice cold drinks.
#3. A fridge that doesn't induce heaving when opened.
#4. Fresh fruit and veg of our choice - unfortunately we have finished all
the nearly mouldy stock on-board.
#5. A decent sleeping experience - mattress that doesn't slide off, salt
free pillows, a sheet that doesn't have what could be mould/chocolate smear from
midnight watch feast/other unidentifiable mark, being able to sleep without the
dilemma of whether to open hatch and be able to breath in sauna, but risk flying
fish and salt water baths invading the cabin.
#6. A decent latte from a clean mug. Mmmm... we ran out of sugar today!!
Nothing to mask the cup-a-soup edge to the coffee now.
#7. Cold milk, creamy surface, a silver top that you rip open, delivered
from the finest milkman in the land, white, cool, dairy goodness... melting at
the thought of it - no offence whoever invented UHT it sucks.
#8. Men ... maybe a teeeny bit :)
#9. A dishwasher. Washing up downwind with a large swell from the starboard
quarter in a plastic bucket that has a hole in it with fairy liquid that doesn't
quite lather up in the salt water to then dry said items with a manky tea towel
which is also salty and not quite dry from laundry day 5 days ago.... is ...
more and more entertaining by the day.
#10. Seeing our family and friends smiling and laughing and giving hugs all
round.
We will continue to dream until our arrival ...
With love and fairy dust from the Girls4Sail crew on
Hotstuff.
