............and whilst we may wish all sorts of
things its actually a couple of bottles of wine from ARC Europe and courtesy of
the Horta Marina - thanks folks, its most welcome and we are looking forward to
immersing ourselves in your largesse!
So in the spirit of recovery we hiked up the hill
to the supermarket yesterday - and very nice it was too - to get a few bits a
pieces before heading off to Peters Bar to spend our hard earned free drinks
vouchers and to use the internet - the marina wifi is non-existent at the
moment. Then, its a tough life you know, it was off to Aditi for an
evening of conversation and wine along with folks from Low Profile and
Beagel - thanks to Paul, Claire and Sophie for hosting a great
evening.
We also caught up with Jan and AnnaLiese who, now
they have completed their wall painting, will be off to Teceira in the next day
or so, though we hope to catch up in Ponta Delgada before they head back to
Holland, and we to Portugal. We have started our own wall painting - pictures in
due course. Wall painting is actively encouraged here and the sheer talent and
ideas on view are spectacular. Although they usually last only a few years,
they are still something to behold and it is great that the marina and harbour
authorities encourage it. It's considered good luck to leave something on the
walls, the jetties, the benches, etc. etc. In a sense its creative graffitti -
something that may not go down too well in some countries, though Banksie may
approve. We have found a few paintings by yachts we know, but we've probably
missed quite a few too!
Back to the painting, drying and
washing.......those bottles of wine look mighty tempting.......
More in due course........
