Helen - Start day - 12
We are nearly half way from Lagos to Las Palmas and have had all sorts of weather from Force 7 on the nose to reaches at 9 knots. There do not seem to be any ships or wildlife for a 100 miles, so sorry no photograph.
We had a bit of excitement in the dark yesterday evening. A bad squall was coming through so it was time to reduce sail and put the engine on. A member of crew, who will remain anonymous, switched all the navigation equipment off instead of switching the steamer light on!
A good exercise for the skipper to helm by compass alone in the middle of a squall while the reason for the electronics failure was sought!
