“Chardonnay, Chardonnay, Chardonnay.” It is Harry Spedding trough the VHF. He is not really thirsty and also not ordering the drinks for another party aboard Reina. Our watch leader goes on with: “Here Reina, Reina, Reina. We are heading east. Please round our stern?”
However we do not get a response we can understand that we are aware of the fact that they know we have the right to stay on our course. A few moments later we see the 235 meter long carrier with the name Chardonnay make a slight turn to port. That’s the way to pass the Chardonnay. Is not it?
A few hours later our captain gets a message from another vessel. “Please stay away from us. We do have engine problems and we are drifting over the ocean without control over the steering.” Jarrod leads us with a big curve out of the danger from the more than 200 meter carrier.
What a day at the ocean! It makes that the watches have to tell each other a lot. Always good to have a bit of excitement. Just waiting for more adventure!
