Southern Child - Day 8 2/12
Day 8 02/12
Position 1200: 21* 06' 98N 038* 41'
52W
Daily Run: 164Nm
Distance to Waypoint: 1343Nm (Over
halfway!!!!)
It is done. We have passed our major milestone. We're now over halfway to
St. Lucia, showers and rum! (yaaahhrr!)
We've dug out 8 cans of beer from the stash under the floorboards and a
bottle of wine, which are now chilling in the fridge ahead of tonights
celebrations. If you're on a nearby boat why not sail by for a toast? And if
you're stuck on land, raise a glass with us at 1900 UTC!
The days are now hot and the nights mild (full follies are no longer
necessary). After the sweaty 1000-1400 watch Bounty had her first bucket shower
on the trip and reported afterwards: "I feel born again. It was like in a 5 star
hotel."
We still spend most of our off-duty hours trying to get some well-needed
rest, but as St. Lucia is getting closer energy is increasing. We're all
comfortable and well settled in now. We're covered in salt and sun cream, but
all very happy!
Highlight of the day: Does a flying fish trying to hitch a ride
count??
