Euphoria - Log Day 9 – 1350 to go
Dear Blog,
Finally,
we have a second position in the 1E class. The competition is however quite
tough and we have several boats close by. The winds are however favorable for
Euphoria so we are flying the spinnaker day-time and a poled-out genoa and
mainsail at night. We have also become much more alert when it comes to
identifying and avoiding squalls.
The grand moment today was
the half-way passing which we celebrated this afternoon when our DTW (Distance
to Waypoint) showed 1350 nm. We were all five in the cockpit and had a very
short celebration with chocolate, snacks and soft drinks. From the speakers we
played Euphoria loudly, quite certain we were not disturbing anyone. After this
short celebration we called Maravilha, clearly visible on our starboard side,
over the VHF. We exchanged half-way greetings. It was quite thrilling to have a
boat in sight in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Now, we are on our own again
with only 1350 miles to go.
The
Skipper
