After a slow start to the morning, the wind picked
up and we had a good 24 hour sail of 170 miles. Weather has been mixed, a lot of
warm sunshine but also some heavy showers. Fishing reached a crescendo during
the afternoon when both rods were in action and we caught 3 quite big Dorado,
around 5-6kg each....one of which fought so hard, he snapped our gaff in
two.
The evening saw us crack a bottle of champagne to
celebrate reaching the halfway mark to St Lucia....and also to recognise the
anniversary of the sending of the first text message back in 1992....whatever
did we do before then?! Back in the Caribbean theme, it is also the anniversary
of the attempted assassination of Bob Marley, when he was shot twice in
1976.
Our problem with chafe has recurred and we spent a
couple of hours this morning re-rigging in an attempt to resolve the
issue.
We have baked a parmesan and sun-dried tomato loaf
for lunch, so looking forward to trying that.
