Helen - Day 11- A quiet day
Today we have wind of around 13 knots which is giving us a speed of 6 knots which is less than we would have hoped for. We have just over a 1,000 miles to go so that at this speed it looks like we will get to St Lucia on Friday next week. If we could speed up to average 7 knots then we would be in by Rebecca's birthday on Thursday and at 8 knots it would be a Wednesday arrival.
The sun has been strong at times so we have put our sun awning up. We have not seen any more Dolphins so it's a day of reading books or doing puzzles for those inclined.
There are several different types of watch systems to determine who is sailing the boat at any one time. No system is right or wrong, just what works for the boat and her crew at any particular time.
We have settled into a 3 hours on and 6 hours off system for Philip, Joe and Mark, and finally Paul. It means that we can get some good sleep and the timing of your night watch changes each day. Wendy was doing night watches at the start of the trip but as our experience grew we have been able to excuse her from night watches in exchange for doing all the excellent food.
We are expecting a quiet night and hoping for a little more wind tomorrow.
Philip
