Celebrate - Ode to the Sea, Wind and Birds
Rolling Rolling Rolling by Jay Ailworth
I came on watch to find the masthead fly going berserk
Spinning to every point of the compass like some insane jerk.
The diesel keeps up a steady droning
while side to side the boat is rolling.
A reefed main has the rigging creaking and groaning
We would rather have wind with the lines and wires singing and moaning
Boats ahead tell us there is wind on this track
All we can do now is bemoan its lack.
Above hangs a daytime half moon in a sky of azure blue
Bestowing a sense of future things to view.
Sea birds swoop and soar with amazing grace
Silently mocking our meandering pace.
Until next time...
