Celebrate - "She Who Waits"
SHE WHO WAITS by Jay Ailworth
The voyage end is almost in sight,
Arriving off the coast at morning's first light.
Stories of a trip from South Africa to Brazil,
Now only one more page to fill.
In Salvador I will cross the gangway and disembark,
But before I do I must pen one more remark.
Once my feet touch this foreign shore,
My scribbled lines will be no more.
As a poet I have no true claim,
Truth be told some of the words are pretty lame.
I will write one last rhyme,
Maybe I will get it right this time.
These tales are only written for my wife,
The one who waits at home, the love of my life.
The last poem,
Jay
