- Starting the day not thinking at all about the fact
that it’s Friday the 13th, we decided to test our water maker, and
had to “waste” some water to make room for test-water. So I took one for the
team; a shower. And then a 4 hour
nap. And then my sister woke me up to the smell of coffee and banana pancakes
for lunch. You see, nature kind of turned on us and decided to turn about half
of all our bananas into that brown, ripe look - all at the same time. So then we
had no choice but to eat them all. So Chef Erin whipped up some banana pancakes.
Eat that, nature.
In
theory we may not have had the best luck fishing yet, but how did we know we
weren’t even going to have to use a pole. Earlier today, during a stroll on
deck, I noticed this tiny, slimy creature with wings, just kind of smooched into
the deck. Was it a giant mosquito? A tiny bird with surprisingly small wings? I
guess you can say that my only right guess was that our deck had unfortunately
been its funeral. The poor thing was one of those flying fish, whom I now had to
peel of our deck. When I say peel, I mean literally. I put on a plastic glove
and had to use force to remove it from our deck, the anti-skid dots on our deck
was imprinted in his wings. The Sahara Desert has really felt comfortable
settling down on our boat, there’s probably enough sand to build a sand castle,
so when the little creature was removed, there was a white spot from where he
had been. I mean poor thing, may he rest in peace, but ew!
By
today’s dinner we have narrowed it down to only 158 nm left, the sky is super
pink and continues to blow my mind, the wind is doing its best to fill our sails
and I am ready to enjoy what could be our last night before Cape
Verde.
Sailing for
Hope,
