Arthur Logic - First blog - from crew member Pudsey Bear
Hello to all from our 9th crew member, that’s me, Pudsey Bear! Now
that the sea state is just about calm enough to use the laptop rather than it
being flung somewhere across the boat I am able to use my big yellow paws to
type. Just over 24 hours in and finally I think most of us are starting to
smile. I, of course, always have a big smile but I too did turn a shade of
green yesterday and overnight. Our departure yesterday from the marina was
very good fun (thank you to our lovely shore team), lots and lots of people came
to wave us off; I got extra big waves because I think I am the only large yellow
bear making this voyage. As we left we were serenaded by some classic
Spanish Euro-pop as we left the harbour (remind me not to let the rest of my
crew put this on the boat speakers....apparently some human beings like this
kind of music, I tolerated it but what goes on in Las Palmas stays in Las Palmas
is my moto).
My watch is currently on deck, very excitingly we have now taken out the
final reef and the boat is holding well. No spinnakers yet, still too windy for
those. I’ve been told that I might even be allowed to steer later if I’m a
very good bear this afternoon. We have taken quite a southerly course and we
haven’t seen any other boats since the middle of last night. I tried using
my special bear powers to work out where our friends on other boats were but
Skipper Timmy then told me that my skills aren’t needed and that we have some
very clever electronics aboard that let us know other boat positions at midday
each day. I will put my special bear skills to use on other equally
helpful things as I so do want to be allowed to steer later.
That’s all from me today, you’ll have me or one of my crew friends sending
the blog tomorrow.
Pudsey :)
