What is this? Seen to be following behind Skyelark this afternoon? Answers
on a post card (or FB comment - these do get forwarded to the boat/crew)
So Day 6.. Light winds continue to prove challenging here onboard, getting
the right sail combinations that allow a good VMG (speed in the right
direction) and don't flap and bang distressingly is proving difficult even
in the light swell. The answer currently it seems is headsail only, poled
out and stay sail - taking the main sail out of the equation means we make
slightly less speed, but in the right direction and quietly - perfect for
the night shift! No doubt as dawn arrives we will re hoist the main sail,
try the spinnaker and generally amuse and exercise ourselves with countless
sail changes. Today we reached a 3rd of the way, and after a quick essential
stock take we are in good shape! Water, fuel and Gin! This is marked by
putting the watches back an hour, which if done correctly means 5 o'clock
comes twice (so 2 happy hours). So it is a very happy boat, as we sit back
marvel at the quietness of it all, watch the sunset and contemplate what a
wonderful curry we had for dinner.. thanks to David J and Tony. Until
tomorrow..
