Today was a memorable one..
All the hype of our second spinnaker (pole flown) came to ahead today as we
hoisted it for the first time in light winds (in the hope of sailing down
our rhumb line) only to discover that it was REDICULOUSLY undersized.. and
better suited to a keelboat on The Solent in a round the cans race!
Poor Mike (AKA Half Mast Mike) has had a good few hours of abuse today
having patiently 'checked sizes', organised with the sail loft and flown
with the kite down from the UK pre ARC
As you can see in the attached photo.. it does not even reach half way down
the mast!!
Sadly due to light winds we have resorted to the iron sail (Engine) for a
few hours in order to make progress south west
Updates to follow tomorrow where we will hopefully be back underway with
sails
