If I count correctly this is our twelfth day at sea. Wind has picked up further during the day, and we were making 9-10kn all day, sometimes even 12. 729 nautical miles to Saint Lucia, and the distance is quickly going down. A good feeling after the days of almost no wind and slow progress.
Today we had a whale visit us, gliding with us through the water and occasionally diving under our vessel only to appear again on the other side. It was with us for 10, maybe 15 minutes before we lost sight. Very nice. No boats sighted in the last 24 hours at least, so any distraction is welcome.
Mites baked fresh bread today, it was delicious, served with Italian salami donated by our very own on-board Italian-of-choice Christine. Certainly beat the prepackaged salami normally served on board the Albatros. I can only recommend to bring food you live, it makes the days at sea so much more enjoyable.
We should make landfall Monday morning, and while everybody seems to enjoy the trip, we do look forward to it.
