Paw Paw - Log Day 180: A Small World
In the early hours of this morning we found the wind we were looking for and have been sailing along nicely since on headsail alone at 6.5 - 8.0 Kts with a following sea. The good ol' south-easterly swell, however, continues to preclude us from flying the mainsail. Also, the boisterous seas stuck around a little longer than forecasted so we had a very uncomfortable morning. We think the topography of the outlying atolls of the Leeward Society Islands contributed to the confusion. Once we were past them, things settled down.
A highlight of our days are our morning and evening calls into the Mag Net on the HF/SSB radio. It always adds some comfort to the passage hearing other voices out there and knowing there are other yachts around, especially when the Net Controller turns out to be Andrew from Eye Candy whom we met in Bonaire nearly two years ago or when another yacht calls in and it's folks we met in Bequia at Christmas. A small world indeed!
