Well, Elaine eventually woke up this morning feeling as stiff as a board, but somewhat human again. After her regular exercises on the foredeck to loosen up, she is happy to report that she has only a hint of discomfort / stiffness in her back and ankle. A major relief after two and a half months since stumpling into a in Papeete, Tahiti.
Although at one point yesterday Elaine was beginning to think that the idea of seeing a traditional healer had been another one of Roy's hair-brain ideas, similar to the belly-button piercing incident, she has to admit that, by this afternoon, she was feeling great and it was, in fact, a brilliant suggestion.
So, in keeping with the natural healing theme, another trip to the Fresh Produce Market revealed that garlic, tumeric and ginger are considered the "Three Brothers" of natural healing by the Samoan's when consumed together, healing all sorts of ailments.
Strangely enough one of
the curries that Roy used to make and one we ate on a regular basis contains all three ingredients. However, since leaving the Caribbean we haven't been able to get all the ingredients needed, specifically tumeric fresh or powdered, so we stopped eating it. Well, it's definitely back on the menu, so it'll be interesting to see if there's an overall improvement in our well-being again. Guess we have nothing to loose! Of course, it didn't help that are garlic press broke today and we haven't been able to find another one as yet - Murphy's Law!
