Well, the solitary streamlined synoptic chart from NOAA, showing three storms, was indeed accurate. By 0300 this morning it passed over us with winds of 25 to 30 Kts, accompanied by rain and lasted until daybreak, by which time we were both more than ready to go back to sleep.
When we awoke it was still raining and the marine forecast out of New Zealand on the SSB/HF Radio provided the "cherry on the cake" with regard to the weather in the South Pacific this sailing season. Not only did they rattle off information on all the cold fronts and various oceanic warnings, but they also indicated that mariners were advised to watch out for falling space debris that was expected to land in the South Pacific. The two of us just looked at each other, thinking what next, and then burst out laughing. We actually couldn't believe our ears!
Fortunately the day brightened up as the morning progressed and turned into a glorious day which definitely
enhanced our wonderful bike ride around Malolo Lailai Island. The views were absolutely spectacular. In fact, the most beautiful we have seen in the South Pacific, convincing Elaine, that while Roy had found his "happy place" in Denarau, she has found hers here.
We concluded our excursion with drinks at the Musket Cove Island Bar, while watching the activities in the bay - dinghy sailors, paddleboarders, snorkelers and canooers, all out enjoying the turquoise waters under sunny skies.
