Bluewaft - Bluewaft Log Day 5

Bluewaft Log Day 5
Wednesday 23 November 2016
22°09’.163N 022°39’.393W
Another good night’s sailing with the swell behind us and the wind slowly
clocking. Very dark with the moon only rising late. No boats on the
radar or AIS.
This morning we decided to follow the rhum line, shook the reef out of the
main, and have started sailing goose-wing with main, jib and stay sail.
We've rigged a preventer on the main using a dock line and spring.
Our VMG is up around 6kts now, so hope to make good time as the winds grow
(fingers crossed). It’s certainly a comfortable ride!
We noticed the first reef line had chaffed so James went up into the boom
and refitted it (we only lost the last meter of line). It was good to see
from a safety perspective he had both his life jacket and helmet on!
Fishing wise we’re still struggling. Marcus pulled in another baby dorado
(even smaller than the last one). James an even smaller one. Not even
enough for ceviche so they both went back in.
Dinner last night was ceviche and a mushroom risotto prepared by Alex, both
to Magali’s recipe. Marcus is cooking tonight’s dinner. A mystery dish
involving German sausages…. Hopefully we’ll catch some real fish soon!
Happy sailing!
