Well, we’ve come around 100 miles south and the day started well with a
couple of hours of ‘proper’ sailing. Unfortunately the wind died again so
we’re back to motor sailing – trying to balance the need for speed with a
greater need to ensure we don’t burn all our fuel. Fleet II is a club
boat, and other members will be delighted to learn that Peter is taking good
care of her!
Given the quiet sailing, we need some things to distract us, so just as
well we landed our first fish this morning. A 15 inch tuna, which came on
board fairly easily, and will provide dinner for all of us tonight. Kim
and Keith are now becoming expert at locating our whereabouts with the sextant,
and we saw three young whales playing a hundred metres away yesterday
afternoon. We all enjoyed a fantastic sky last night during our various
watches. Four shooting stars each had a wish – but certainly the one about
the wind hasn’t worked yet!
All the best
