Fleet II - Log Sunday 27th November: a day of rest?
After a couple of days with better winds and gaining some confidence in an
arrival date in St Lucia today has been rather slower. Engine on and winds
down at 5 knots – and not even sunny this morning – its not always
paradise! It has been an odd day – a few chores such as washing a few
clothes (I’d never been asked to reef the washing line before now) and tidying
the boat (Keith is brilliant at keeping us in order), topping up the tank with
diesel from the forward locker, watching some dolphins (and for me, a couple of
episodes of Black Adder!) and suddenly the day is nearly gone.
Our plans for St Lucia are being juggled (Hotel Chocolat please be kind to
us!) and our partying may be a little shortened, but the miles to go are slowly
coming down. Diesel usage is holding up well, we have enough food and
water (yesterday’s lunch was our own tricolore of avocado/mozzarella/serrano
ham, with Kim’s home-baked pitta bread – so yes the food is lasting well!) -
another week or so will be fine. Fish pie for tea today, beef bourgignon
tomorrow, and only then will we be on to our tins. Will have to catch some
more fresh fish!
Enjoy the week everyone
Best
