SuperTramp - blog Day 7

Out of the washing machine and into the drier.
What a difference a day makes!
We went from turbulent seas with big swells and gusts of up to 37 knots, to calm seas, sunshine and light airs. We celebrated a week at sea by having a fabulous roast dinner with all the trimmings washed down with a nice glass of wine and continued the festivities with cocktails at sundown. Fred made the most amazing Yorkshire pudding and Scott's cauliflower cheese and rich gravy was to die for. William found a great way to use up the over ripe bananas…………….we may have to get rid of some more tomorrow!
The calmer seas allowed us to do some "house work", catch up on sleep and enjoy the first day of sunshine.
However the wind went down with the sun and we found ourselves rolling around going nowhere, so the decision was made to motor until the wind picks up. Steve and Brian have spent hours looking at weather maps and wind gribs to see where the wind is and it appears to be a very unusual pattern for this time of year, with low pressure systems moving around preventing the trade winds from becoming established. It seems our decision to stay North was a good one but we have eventually run out of wind.
We see from our emails from Arc Rally Control that many boats have had to stop at the Cape Verde's to either re fuel or do repairs. I do hope that they soon get on their way again and have a safe passage onwards to St Lucia, especially Betelgeuse who we shared a pontoon with in Las Palmas ( and a few glasses of wine).
Lets hope tomorrow brings better winds……………..but if not at least we might catch a fish!

Love to all our families,
Fi and the crew.
