Beltana II - The Owner (alias State Room Boy) gets white wine relief
Beltana II - The Owner (alias State Room Boy) gets white wine relief
Great news today for the owner, former skipper and newly appointed “State
Room Boy” of Beltana II, Jon Romcke..........during a tidy up of the stateroom
the major engineering feat of moving Graham’s bag (next week folks don’t forget
to look out for the Qatar Airlines A380 with the tandem trailer behind) was
moved and three whole bottles of white wine were discovered. Given that
Jonno is currently cooking up yet more freshly caught Mahi Mahi for lunch, this
discovery has brought much joy and delight in aft regions of the boat. The
fishing stakes have also been upped by finally finding the new sinker for the
Queensland hand line. This process of discovery was some what hindered by
the fact that “boy looks” were the only available process.............to
absolutely nobody’s surprise the first several were completely unsuccessful and
then on about the 7th attempt the sinker was found pretty much where it was
supposed to be. To give the fish some sort of sporting chance
against this fishing weapon the Beltana II boat speed has been increased to 7-8
knots.......this has also brought general cheer to the various after guard
members, the crew and the galley slaves who have now all gone past the light
weather skills honing moments and are keener to revisit the skills associated
with higher speed boating at an angle!
Cheese supplies are holding up well and half a wheel of Stilton has been
officially added to the grab bag list..........The current cockpit discussion is
focused on the application of the top gallant sail and the the mizzen top
gallant in particular.............this is of a modicum of concern to the galley
slave on watch as the 3 minute rig check conducted this morning had noted that
Beltana II has been very consistent in being a cuter rigged Bermudan Sloop for
the whole of the ARC and a, albeit brief, search below decks has failed to
identify the stowage location of the spare mizzen mast.......
Back to the frying of fresh fish and preparation for the 2pm
sched........
