Fleet II - Log 2nd December: Slapped in the face with a wet fish
Fleet II - Log 2nd December: Slapped in the face with a wet fish
As I celebrated yesterday, we now have some wind and enjoyed a good day’s
sailing. We continued to do so this morning, staying north of the storm
clouds, the turned our direction towards St Lucia around lunchtime. It
does now feel like we’re on the final straight, albeit still with 400 miles to
go. ETA is now Sunday evening/Monday morning, which gives our wives three
days by themselves there – watch out St Lucia!
This morning felt a bit like Bake Off. Peter is well practiced at
bread making, and embellished today’s offering with crunched almonds. Kim
provided a second instalment of his very successful Pitta bread, while Keith had
a go at lemon flavoured almond crunch biscuits, which were exceptional. We
continue to eat very well! Round two tomorrow?
And the wet fish? It was around ten last night, a pretty dark night
with no moon. I was quite happy star gazing and thoughts drifting (oops I
mean concentrating on maximising the boat’s performance if Peter reads this)
when I was hit hard on the cheek by who knew what. After landing from
jumping two feet in the air I heard a thrashing sound from the floor and
investigated – a flying fish had flown into my face and was now trying to jump
out again. No damage, but right up there in the scary moments table!
