Raggy Doll - Wednesday 21st June - Groundhog Day!
It's finally arrived, today we get to go on ARC Portugal, we have been looking forward to this for so long and now it is actually happening.
Wednesday morning started bright and early - pause - rewind! Wednesday morning started overcast and foggy, we were not going anywhere early. To make the most of the delay, it was decided I should go up the mast to repair the broken sail bag rigging. This involves wearing a harness a bit like a large nappy, that is attached to a rope and you are then winched up the mast with a second rope as a safety line. I was the obvious choice as I am the lightest (sorry AJ). So I'm prepared like a trussed chicken and up I go, to be honest it's actually something I enjoy, the views up there are amazing, sadly the fog put a stop to that. The rigging was quickly reattached and I was a back on terra firmer, well the boat anyway, before you could blink.
By now the fog had lifted enough for us to leave, we really truly were going!!!
I will not bore you all with the journey as it was very uneventful, fog, no wind and motoring the whole way.
Anyway moving swiftly on, nearly 12 hours later we heard the voice of an angel on the radio, well actually, it was Paul from the yacht Blonde Moment giving us our berth details.
We motored in to our allocated berth and were met by the most glorious welcoming party. YES, we were back with our sailing family.
Yacht Wikiwiki gave us beer and fizz, then invited us to join them as they were going to a local restaurant for dinner, we happily accepted. The rest, as they say, is history.
