Timshel - Fiji 180 deg longitude halfway round the world?

Leaving Somosomo the 180deg meridian was just around the corner. But what happened when you got there? Most of our chart plotters had a white or possibly brown or blue line at this point, and some missing information, as though the join was imperfectly made. The question was - is the world in fact flat after all and do we fall off? Fortunately this was not the case, and in fact the mobile Navionics on the ipad would scroll right across continuously, so we were able to navigate down to Paradise Taveuni resort at the south end of the island. So that's us halfway round the world, from Greenwich anyway, and it's the Winter Solstice coming up, not the Summer. Paradise Taveuni were wonderfully welcoming and helpful, guys in Kayaks to tell us where to anchor (all 6 mooring buoys being already occupied) and somehow making room for 12 WARC boats on the moorings and small anchoring area. Ashore nothing was too much trouble. We had an excellent meal that first night, next day some went diving/snorkelling, but most did a trip round the island that took from 8am till 17.30. Then there was a Fijian night with traditional food roasted in a hole in the ground, dancing and Kava ceremony (plus Fijian version of Old Macdonsld had a farm ....), we were also celebrating Helen (Tibbs) birthday and she got a cake with a candle. the great thing was that the staff seemed to enjoy it all as well. From Paradise we sailed on to Savusavu quite a long day sail, but Chris was spot on with the weather prediction and we got a nice breeze after motoring for the first couple of hours. We berthed on a buoy at the Copra Shed Marina in busy Nakama creek - quite a yachting Mecca and a busy little town and very Indian. Steve and Andrew from Sumore and Laura Dawn somehow managed to get World ARC participants signed up as official guests for the Savusavu Crime Prevention Week festival, which involved sitting up on the stage and meeting the assistant minister, an elegant Fijian lady, and being fed tea and Cake. Next night we celebrated Steve's birthday at the Captains Table restaurant, great to have so many of our WARC friends with us.
