Lexington - 7/30/2017. Manta Ray Point

We are now in an area called the Yaswa group. It is a string of islands off the northwest of Fiji. We anchored at an area called Manta Ray Point. We are between Drawaqa Island and Nanuya Balavu Island. It was a nice anchorage but moderately deep. We snorkeled a little. We also met a couple on another boat anchored here. We were out snorkeling and they were sitting in their dinghy waiting for the sun to come from behind a cloud before they got in. As I snorkeled by their dinghy and looked up to see where I was, Debby (lady in other boat) calls out ” How are you doing Bob?” So this floored me that she would call me by name. My thought was how should I know this lady? With as many old girl friends as I have I always have to be on my toes to remember names which I am not good at. (Just joking, of course). As it turned out, they could hear us talking and figured I was Bob. We talked for a while. I invited them over for a drink. They suggested that the backpacking resort had a happy hour and food, so we all went there by dinghy. We had a nice evening comparing sailing stories. They had the usual problems of aging parents while they are off sailing. We are staying here tonight and then heading back to Denarau Marina. We have about 35 miles back.
