Blonde Moment - Blog No 6, I think!!!
Hello, for some reason I seem to only get blog writing time on night shift, but we have the most fantastic night here, almost a full moon with some clouds and when the moon re-appears from behind a cloud, it feels like there's a ship approaching too closely from behind and turned all its lights on, eerie! The man in the moon is smiling and playing tricks on us! Apparently it is a supermoon at the moment, meaning it is closer to us than normal, certainly looks huge!
I'm sorry to hear that the weather in the UK is minus 4 degrees, I just can't imagine that at the moment sailing by the light of the moon just dressed in just T shirt and short and with Christmas now just around the corner .....all feels very strange!!
It's been boiling here today, when we gybed earlier (which we've almost mastered , It now takes 15 minutes, previously the operation took over 30 minutes due to the amount and complexity of the configuration of poles, sheets, guys, sails etc etc) we were so hot and sweaty after, had to shower off at the back of the boat, holding on tightly to the deck with our knees and toes so we didn't fall overboard!
There is so little marine life out here at the moment, no dolphins or whales and few flying fish today. No catch of the day for supper either! Never mind, American pancakes and maple syrup all round for breakfast this morning ( skipper some how also got bacon with his!) more than made up for it and we're getting close to our reggae line which is approximately half way on the latitude line across the Atlantic! More celebrations to be had then and we are allowed to start playing reggae music!!
Somehow I am going to try and make an advent calendar tomorrow as we forgot to bring one, it seems really weird that it's December 1st in an hour or so!
More soon, take care!
Blonde Moment out!!
