Sleeping in the skipper's sleeping bag was a revelatory experience
for me. He was not in it while I was. This morning we were seen off
by hundreds of spectators (and |Guy) standing on the docks, playing music, and
waving us goodbye. We had an amazing start in racing class A (11 boats),
putting us in first place. After starting, we sailed off on a reach to
catch heavier winds in open water before heading South, where we hope to catch
the same trade winds Christopher Columbus sailed to reach the Americas. We
changed from asymmetrical spinnaker to symmetrical spinnaker. Spirits are
high and the weather is lovely.
love,
Kit
