Until this trip, the most magical thing I had ever seen was the star filled
sky over Everest base camp in Nepal. The skies mid Atlantic are just as
wondrous, and with watches of four hours, you get much more time to appreciate
them. Last night, however, it was overcast, so no star gazing, but just below the
surface, 3 or 4 dolphins visited us and put on a light show with their
phosphorescent trails weaving under and around the boat as we made our way
westward. The helm was able to hold course despite the distraction and
when the A Watch arrived, we were another 33 nautical miles closer to our
goal. I will miss these nights when they are over.
