Half way to the finish line!
Hi everyone,
yesterday we had a calm sailing day with 12-15kn of
wind. We kept going for a while with a 'goose wing' rig with
a course over ground of 230 deg. aiming for south to catch more wind.
With an easy to handle rig we had lots of time to enjoy ourselves in the sun.
This morphing into cruising mode even for while is very pleasant change
for the racers onboard.
In the evening we enjoyed the last frozen diners.
Coached by Sandra the crew had prepared 7 fabulous diners for the first days at
sea. These are now gone and we are curious to see want can be done
from tined food. Tonight, Chris will take the chef's
hat and spoil us. Looking forward !
During the night we encountered another pack of dolphins
swimming along with us for a day. Thanks to the easy rig
(no sail trimming - less hands on deck needed) we are currently
running a 2hours on / 4 hours off watch cadence, a much welcomed rhythm to catch
more sleep.
Yes, we love this easy rig, yet some crew members do
miss Robert's passionate *GRIIIIIND*
Today started as the previous days: a
beautiful sunrise at 9am GMT and Gaby smiling at the helm, eager to
get back to bed #groundhogday.
We just gibed again, celebrated to complete the
first half (1,335nm), and are now back to pointing at St.
Lucia.
We hope you are all alright and send our
warmest regards,
Time of another cuppa tea,
cheers
Daniel (HLDXXXO)
