Glory - Glory Lagoon 42 logDay 11- Halyard dreams

By tomorrow’s at this time we will be approximately 1200 miles from St Lucia and I can almost “smell the barn” ( in my case the barn smells like rum and mangoes). I know that is still a LONG way by any definition, but if my worst fear materialized- losing my Main halyard- then I could almost motor the rest of the way there. We have not really needed to run the engines and I brought an extra 100l on top of the 585 on board capacity. ( Running one Yanmar 57 at a time at 1500 RPM burns 2 litres an hour and will yield 5 kts ).
I did not rig an extra halyard and wish I did. I guess I could use the topping lift in a pinch to perhaps the second reef point.
Currently wind is gusting 25 to 30 and we just took a second reef in main and 1 in jib. Still doing 8 knots in some big seas. Slowing her down a bit is easier on her and the crew.
