Cassiopée W - Log Day 3 - 2nd Night Watch
Monday 14th, 3h30am. Gorgeous night at sea. The moon set early and there is a few high clouds so it is quite a dark night. Very calm sea, 13 knots of breeze with the odd gusts at 18 kts. We are cruising nicely at anywhere from 6.5 to 7.2 kts.
Small Victory - We managed to temporarily fix the spinnaker pole around 11am yesterday and that was a big plus. We can now have our Genoa up and poled out. Not only does it give us a boost in speed (40% more?) but it stabilizes the sailboat tremendously. It makes it easier to move around, we’ll get better quality sleep, and more importantly, I won’t have to chase the food on my plate!
We are slowly getting into the life-at-sea routine. It takes a while to rest while sleeping in bursts of 2:30 hours. Absolutely thrilled to be here!
Signing off for now, JF
