Sweet Dream - Day 13 January 25, 2019

Eighty miles to go til we raise The San Blas Islands. Today has been a near perfect sailing day. From the mid twenties wind and four meter seas of sunrise to the eighteen knots on greatly reduced waves now, our little ship of dreams has been keeping right on schedule for a high daylight arrival at the reef strewn islands of eastern Panama. At this moment, it is dark. Clouds have covered the sky all day, and don’t appear to be lifting any time soon. My friend , la Luna, weary from all the attention of being a howling eclipsed blood moon earlier in the week is having a lie in, so the boat sails on in the thick, black, tropical night air. I scan a 360, nothing to be seen except the occasional flash of phosphorescence. Ahhh, this is my personal favourite part of sailing, encapsulated in the magical world of night, gliding on a magic carpet of light, feeling pure, blissful peace in a Sweet Dream and being greeted in the morning by the “sea elves”!
