Leg 2 Day 2
Some of the problems that we had on the first leg have returned. The email systems that we are using appear to be very temperamental especially when you need them. It’s not just because we receive our weather forecasts but other important comms are sent PCR test results, process for St Lucia etc (although this is some time off yet) although we do have an army of helpers forecasting, gathering information for St Lucia’s authorities and sending us news. If our sat phones stop working I don’t know what we do!
In a more light hearted mode the Captain was taking a well deserved nap in the saloon having worked into the early hours of a night shift. Whilst deep in sleep and dreaming about what ever Captains dream about, the gentle rocking motion of the boat and waves were complimenting this restful time, when the swinging vegetable hammock discharged a tomato from a vertical drop of three feet onto he captains head. Without hestiation he calmly reached to his eye, picked up the vegetable and ate it, before slipping straight back to the land of nod.
We covered 120 miles the first day so we are confident that we have increased this with better wind from the NE.
There is a flurry of activity this morning Simone has gone on a radical cleaning spree, no area of this boat is safe - I dare say she may even venture under the locker in my cabin or under the bed !
Yesterday’s wild life was a pod of dolphin escorting the boat westwards whilst being fed the flying fish that had hit the boat. A few sea birds followed overnight, I was unsure if they were looking for a place to land so they could res their wings a bit? Other than that, it is a particularly beautiful world when the wind is in the right direction the sun heats your body and the mind can relax a while.
